A practical way forward.

I’m Nate. I bring a journalism background, a hands-on creative skill set and a strategic approach to helping businesses communicate and move forward.

My work spans the thinking and the making: asking questions, finding the story, writing the copy, producing content and working out how it all fits together.

WHERE IT STARTS

Find the story. Make it worth someone’s attention.

My foundation is journalism. I hold a BA (Hons) in Journalism, and that perspective runs through how I approach a brief: ask questions, look closely, find what matters and communicate it clearly.

Businesses have plenty to say. The useful work is deciding what someone needs to hear, why they should care and how to make the message feel true to the business.

That thinking carries into a website, a piece of content, a marketing decision or a bigger conversation about direction.

A CONNECTED SKILL SET

From the first question to the finished piece.

I like being able to follow an idea through. To understand the business behind it, shape the message and get involved in making the work.

Having a broad skill set helps me see the connections between what a business wants to achieve and what people actually encounter.

Strategy & perspective

Step back, understand the situation and decide what deserves attention. Bring the business goals, audience and practical constraints into the same conversation.

Writing & messaging

Find the right angle and put it into words. Shape website copy, business messages and content around what needs to be understood—and who needs to understand it.

Content production & editing

Get hands-on with the material. Produce content, shape the structure and edit the details so the finished piece holds together.

The mix depends on the brief. We agree what’s needed and where I can be most useful.

WORKING TOGETHER

You can bring the unfinished version.

The rough notes. The idea you keep coming back to. The website that doesn’t quite say what you mean. The feeling that there’s an opportunity, even if you haven’t worked out the shape of it yet.

That’s a useful place to start.

I’ll ask questions, help make sense of what’s there and give you a clear view of what I think deserves attention. Sometimes the next step will be strategic. Sometimes it will be a piece of writing or content. We work out what makes sense before agreeing the work.

You’ll deal directly with me, with a clear understanding of the scope, responsibilities and next steps.

AWAY FROM THE DESK

I like to test myself.

I’m an airsports enthusiast, and BASE jumping is part of my life outside work. I’m drawn to the preparation, focus and clear thinking it demands and the challenge of putting those things into practice under pressure.

Those experiences help me understand myself: how I respond when things change, when to trust my judgement and when to step back. They give me a clearer sense of my limits, what I’m capable of and what working at my best feels like.

It’s a different setting, and another part of who I am. If we work together, I’d like you to get to know the person as well as the work.

NateRoss is my personal identity. ZenSult is the consultancy brand behind the work, with room to grow as the business develops.

For now, the introduction is simple: you’re speaking with me.

Tell me what you’re working on.

You don’t need a polished brief. A few lines about the business, the challenge or the idea is enough to start a conversation.

We can work out whether there’s a useful fit from there.
